Evaluation of Different Amino Acids on Growth and Cyanide Production by Bacillus megaterium for Gold Recovery

چکیده

Bio-cyanidation, as a sustainable and effective method to extract gold from primary secondary resources, has attracted attention because of its environmental friendliness economic benefits. The effect amino acids on bio-cyanide production using Bacillus megaterium (B. megaterium) is less explored area in this field the main interest study. Here, glycine, threonine, glutamine over concentration range 0 10 g/L was investigated. results showed at equal (5 g/L), glycine yields (maximum ca. 110 mg/L) higher biogenic cyanide (bio-CN), while threonine produce 74 mg/L 64 mg/L, respectively). For first time, optimization mixing three investigated revealed more significant roles for stimulation bio-CN by B. megaterium. interactions involved biosynthesis were explained with reference metabolic pathways cycle bacteria. In mixed acids, optimum medium identified be 2.84 3.0 absence which could high 86 bio-CN, resulting leaching efficiency comparable chemical cyanide.

Cyanide Metabollism by Bacillus megaterium * ( Received for publication

Cyanide disappears from a medium supporting actively growing cells of Bacillus megaterium, a bacterium isolated from a cyanide enrichment medium containing Fargo clay soil. Whole cells of this organism convert K14CN to asparagine-*4C, aspartic acid-14C and 14C02. Besides cyanide, serine l4C and /3-cyanoalanine-14C are effectively converted by whole cells of this organism to asparagine-14C. An a...

Synthesis and Functionalization of Gold Nanoparticles by Using of Poly Functional Amino Acids

Synthesis and characterization of two functionalized gold nanoparticles by using of two poly functional amino acids (L-Arginine and L-Aspartic acid) are reported. The gold nanoparticles were reduced by sodium citrate and functionalized with L-Arginine at the pH of 7 and 11 and L-Aspartic acid at the pH of 7. Transmission electron microscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, zeta p...

Biosynthesis of Nucleic Acids in Bacillus megaterium

So-called 'chromatin b)odies' have been observed in whole cells, protoplasts and spores of Bacillus megaterium by cytological and electron-microscopical techniques (Fitzjames, 1953, 1958; Robinow, 1956). In ultra-thin sections of whole cells the chromatin body appears as an area less electron-dense than the surrounding cytoplasm and made up of a network of fine fibrils with no bounding membrane...

Comparison of Adsorption Properties of Activated Carbons with Different Crops Residues as Precursors for Gold Cyanide Recovery: An Iranian Gold Industry Guide

Adsorption of gold cyanide on three types of Activated Carbons (ACs) has been investigated in batch and column adsorption conditions. Applied ACs have been derived from different crops precursors i.e., coconut shell (CAC), peach stone (PAC), and walnut shell (WAC). As peach stone and walnut shells are abundant agricultural residues in Iran, the activated carbons produced from these precurso...

Synchronous growth and sporulation of Bacillus megaterium.

Filtration of late log-phase cultures of Bacillus megaterium ATCC 19213 grown on defined sucrose salts medium (SS) or SS plus glutamate medium (SSG) through nine layers of Whatman no. 40 filter paper in a fritted-glass disc Büchner funnel resulted in filtrates containing cells which showed synchronous growth and proceeded to sporulation. SS cells completed one synchronous division after filtrat...
